The Challenge: An expert wireless application software company (onceLabs) sought to scale from a best-kept secret to a recognized industry player. The Result: Orchestrated the debut of the Bauer Products NE CS Bluetooth Door Lock at CES 2026 and Embedded World 2026. The product became an industry benchmark for Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding, featured prominently in the Bluetooth SIG, Nordic Semiconductor, and Zephyr exhibitor spaces. This first-of-its-kind Channel Sounding secure lock was demonstrated in tandem with the Google Pixel 10, validating the solution’s market-readiness for the next generation of mobile hardware.

The Challenge: As a pioneer in high-precision ranging, this specialized engineering team (Metirionic) sought to re-assert its market leadership as the Bluetooth 6.0 landscape emerged. To capture the opportunity of Channel Sounding, the firm needed to leverage its expertise in Channel Impulse Response (CIR) and advanced signal processing, and transition from a stealth R&D focus toward a partner-centric commercial model. This evolution was required to provide the simultaneous distance and angle precision (Spatial Awareness) necessary for next-generation indoor navigation, secure access, and proximity applications.
The Method: Operating as a trusted extension of the leadership team, we helped architect a comprehensive commercial strategy and marketing revamp. By iterating requirements with partners and solidifying market demand, we validated the market for angle estimation alongside distance ranging for prioritization on the roadmap. We translated complex technical capabilities into a resonant corporate narrative, identifying high-value global partnerships and navigating the requirements for design-wins with product manufacturers.
The Result: Successfully positioned the firm as a critical partner for industry leaders including Nordic Semiconductor, Synaptics, Ellisys, the broader module ecosystem and others. This strategic transformation elevated the company into a recognized category leader, culminating in the debut of industry-first Bluetooth Channel Sounding solutions. Beyond Bluetooth, the strategic outcome brought new interest to the firm’s UWB expertise. The Challenge: A premier research and innovation hub (imec) required proactive business development to promote hardware and software IP (Bluetooth and UWB) across major global regions. The organization needed to translate deep-tech R&D into a compelling commercial case and navigate complex licensing structures with semiconductor leaders of all sizes.
The Method: Integrated as a strategic business team member to identify and engage Fortune 100, Fortune 500, and innovative semiconductor leaders. In some cases, this involved matching product manufacturers with semiconductor suppliers to catalyze the industry; by aligning chip company design wins with product company needs, we accelerated the broader licensing ecosystem.

The Challenge: Establishing a first-of-its-kind public V2X Tolling solution required the seamless integration of global automakers, infrastructure providers, and cybersecurity leaders. To navigate a North American market defined by complex regulation and entrenched incumbents, the project required a total revamp of the strategic approach to move V2X security from a niche technical issue to a resonant priority for the market.
The Method: Working with Microsec, we augmented their leadership through strategic orchestration and operational focus. We helped facilitate the integration of Valeo’s automated systems and Kapsch’s tolling solutions with their security service, ensuring the solution demonstrated adherence to SAE J3217 and IEEE 1609.2.1 protocols. This effort culminated in a high-profile demonstration for the California Secretary of Transportation and Caltrans, where we successfully evangelized the integrity of V2X transactions to regional road and toll operators.
The Result: This multi-stakeholder collaboration further contributed to establishing Microsec as a security leader in V2X, adding the critical dimension of tolling to the traffic safety narrative. Through this orchestration, we validated secure V2X tolling as a viable path for connected vehicles alongside traffic and safety applications, followed by active leadership in post-event workshops, industry standards activities, and pilot deployments.

The Challenge: Prevent toxic chemicals and algae producing effluence into the lakes, rivers, reservoirs, and ocean by changing the behavior of citizens and businesses alike.
The Method: Developed a community-wide awareness campaign uniting the regional ABC television affiliate, print medias including Times Mirror magazines, the San Diego Union-Tribune, and retailers such as Quickie Oil Change, Body Beautiful Carwash, and 21st Century Auto Insurance.
The Result: A dominant regional movement that transformed storm-drain pollution prevention into a shared civic responsibility with widespread awareness and impact verified by a significant drop in effluent discharge countywide. The Challenge: Starting with the challenge that men in particular faced (initially, with a version for women soon after) in discovering their aspirational style in order to fine tune their shopping experiences, we developed an algorithmically powered game that predicted human taste in fashion (and other style and esthetic based decisions such as cars, homes, furniture, etc.) through a highly intuitive and accurate scalable digital interface, StyleSeek™.
The Method: By encapsulating a wide spectrum of ‘StyleDNA™’ architypes, we developed an algorithmically based game that transformed personal style into highly accurate recommendations for shoppers to connect with and purchase the products from the brands and retailers marketing them.

“StyleSeek is a ‘new way to shop online,’ providing a personalized, magazine-style experience that mixed style advice with directly purchasable items. The Challenge: Address the trades gap in current and future workforce demand for design and manufacturing by connecting youth with the ‘Steel City’ legacy in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and beyond.
The Method: An alliance between designers, manufacturers, and industry supported by the US Dept of Defense, IACMI (the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation - US Department of Energy) and the Andy Warhol Museum using heritage foundry patterns to teach metallurgy and design.
The Result: A national workforce education model that restores pride in American manufacturing. We have launched a pilot K-12 education outreach program in Pittsburg to support the work of METAL, Metallurgical Engineering Trades Apprenticeship and with the support of ACE, a national initiative to rebuild U.S. capabilities in the machine tools sector, including technology development and training to build a skilled workforce flow. Through ACE, the ‘Patterns of Meaning’ initiative is supported by the Department of Defense (DoD), Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS), Program from the Office of Industrial Policy, and Universities across the United States (Including the University of Tennessee Knoxville, University of Florida, and Texas A&M, among others). https://patternsofmeaning.org/
“As a Pittsburgh-based oil painter and preservationist, I have focused my work on depicting contemporary, nostalgic scenes of the city and its environs, employing salvaged materials from the industrial base that built America from the Industrial Revolution of the 19th through the mid-20th Centuries. The Challenge: Over nearly two decades, developing a variety of grass roots and community stakeholder-based outreach, education, and media campaigns to engage and empower ratepayers (commercial and industrial businesses, government and public institutions, agricultural, and residential, alike) to take control of their energy use and support conservation. Our first campaigns focused on youth engagement through the schools and destinations such as the UCSD Scripps Birch Aquarium, County Agricultural District, and outreach vehicles such as the Planet Earth Express. Our wide variety of projects spanned well into the 2010’s with volunteer programs promoting the adoption and use of smart-meter technology synching with mobile technology for active energy use monitoring and control.
The Method: A series of programs were developed in collaborations developed with a variety of educational, media, experiential, public service, and retail partners including Starbucks, Balboa Park’s Fleet Science Center, California State Parks, and the UCSD Scripps Birch Aquarium. Each of these programs was developed to foster environmental stewardship through energy conservation.
The Result: Over two decades, tens of thousands of youths and yet more customers were informed and engaged in energy resource and power use conservation, eventually enabling customers from business and organizational to individual households to take control of their energy use through large-scale adoption of mobile monitoring and increased energy efficiency across the utility’s footprint including both the Southern California and Northern Baja Mexico markets.

The Challenge: Spanning a period from post deregulation landline and early to midterm cellular network development to the rollout of AT&T U-verse, a former triple-play service (TV, internet, phone) that transitioned to a, for existing customers only, IPTV television service under the DirecTV/TPG Capital umbrella, while U-verse internet has rebranded to AT&T Internet, it provides fiber-backed television with features like a, for some, Total Home DVR, on-demand content, and the U-verse app for mobile viewing. AT&T engaged with Brian from 1993 through the early 2010’s.
The Method: Brian began his work with AT&T and in fact the formation of his first agency with a series of sports and other journalism conferences that engaged high schools across the United States in AT&T communications technologies and services as tools of future trade in workforce education and applied learning.
The Result: Beginning with the backdrop of The Americas Cup, and progressing with Baseball Spring Training, The X-Games, and political party national conventions. Brian developed ‘Sports Beat’ and ‘Political Beat’ as national educational and media partnerships against the backdrop of a variety of national events. In later years, work with AT&T focused on emerging delivery platforms with a continuing focus on education tapping into youth and their early understanding and adoption of communications technologies as well as influence on parents and teachers alike.
